The Littlebirds Big Band

The Littlebirds started in 1990 as part of an education program run by the Yardbird Suite. It is made up of the top talent from the greater Edmonton area, and has become one of the Canada’s finest youth music programs. The program includes an 18-piece big band and smaller jazz combos, and it explores the rich diversity of music under the umbrella of “jazz.”

The Littlebirds perform dozens of concerts every year and enjoy a high level of musicianship. The experience has a profound and lasting impact on the lives of Littlebirds members, and many go on to become music teachers or professional musicians. All are motivated students sharing a love of music and a deep commitment to excellence.
