On The River | FREE Event

Join us for this FREE event as part of our recognition of National Indigenous Peoples Day.

On the River is a 60-minute live performance of music and video, focusing on the Cree, Dene and Metis peoples’ community of Fort McKay, on the Athabasca River north of Fort McMurray. It tells the story of the tremendous change the community has gone through over the past 70 years through the lens of the life of former chief Dorothy McDonald-Hyde.

Songs written and performed by: multiple award-winning Indigenous women’s trio Asani (Debbie Houle, Sarah Pocklington, Sherryl Sewepagaham) and folk/roots Juno winner Maria Dunn.
